District 7 Carry-In Contests

Free to enter. One entry per publication per category. Up to four students’ names may be credited on an entry; entries with more than four participants will be submitted as “Staff.” All entries must be received by Oct. 31. Details on how to submit entries are in the contest descriptions.

Infographic (OPEN TO ANYONE)

Submit a single infographic about Hurricane Irma exported to a .pdf created on a software of your choice. Each publication can submit ONE infographic. Entries should be submitted via District7FSPA@gmail.com. Submission requirements: Email subject line must indicate the contest category for the entry. Email text needs to include, the name of the school, publication name, publication type, and student name for any award certificates. (Email time stamp is deadline submission time; Due by October 31 at 11:59 p.m.)

 

Personality Portrait (OPEN TO ANYONE)

Submit a single .jpeg image that captures a subject’s character. Judges will look for effective composition, high technical quality, creativity/originality, human interest and an image that tells a story. Each publication can submit ONE personality portrait. Entries should be submitted via District7FSPA@gmail.com. Submission requirements: Email subject line must indicate the contest category for the entry. Email text needs to include, the name of the school, publication name, publication type, and student name for any award certificates. (Email time stamp is deadline submission time; Due by October 31 at 11:59 p.m.)

 

Reaction Photo (OPEN TO ANYONE)

Submit a single .jpeg image that captures human reaction. It should be a CANDID photo, not a posed photo. Judges will look for effective composition, high technical quality, creativity/originality, human interest and an image that tells a story. The picture MUST be accompanied by a caption. Each publication can submit ONE reaction photo. Entries should be submitted via District7FSPA@gmail.com. Submission requirements: Email subject line must indicate the contest category for the entry. Email text needs to include, the name of the school, publication name, publication type, and student name for any award certificates. (Email time stamp is deadline submission time; Due by October 31 at 11:59 p.m.)

 

Action Photo – (OPEN TO ANYONE)

Submit a single .jpeg image that captures action. It should be a CANDID photo, not a posed photo. Yearbook Layout (YEARBOOK STAFFS ONLY)

Submit a summer-themed yearbook spread exported to a .pdf created on a software of your choice. All content on the spread should be original content created by students. Each yearbook staff can submit ONE spread. Entries should be submitted via District7FSPA@gmail.com. Submission requirements: Email subject line must indicate the contest category for the entry. Email text needs to include, the name of the school, publication name, publication type, and student names for any award certificates. (Email time stamp is deadline submission time; Due by October 31 at 11:59 p.m.).

 

Newspaper Layout (NEWSPAPER STAFFS ONLY)

Submit an entertainment page about fall t.v. lineup exported to a .pdf created on a software of your choice. All content on the page should be original content created by students. Photos from wire services or television networks, can be used with PROPER PERMISSION and photo credits. Each newspaper staff can submit ONE page. Entries should be submitted via District7FSPA@gmail.com. Submission requirements: Email subject line must indicate the contest category for the entry. Email text needs to include, the name of the school, publication name, publication type, and student names for any award certificates. (Email time stamp is deadline submission time; Due by October 31 at 11:59 p.m.).

 

Literary Magazine Layout (LITERARY MAGAZINE STAFFS ONLY)

Submit an literary magazine spread that pairs original artwork or photography with original poetry or short story  exported to a .pdf created on a software of your choice. Each literary staff can submit ONE page. Entries should be submitted via District7FSPA@gmail.com. Submission requirements: Email subject line must indicate the contest category for the entry. Email text needs to include, the name of the school, publication name, publication type, and student names for any award certificates. (Email time stamp is deadline submission time; Due by October 31 at 11:59 p.m.).
